Oxleas Woods

Deansfield Primary School is located close to Oxleas Woodlands on the south side of Shooter's Hill. The ancient deciduous woods are over 8,000 years old and are part of a continuous area of woodland including Castle Wood, Jack Wood, Oxleas Meadows, Shepherdleas Wood and Eltham Park North. It is a Local Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Children from Reception, Years 1 and 2 make regular visits to the woods as part of the Forest School project while other years make visits related to their topics studied in class.
The annual Nursery Teddy Bears' Picnic is held near the cafe on Oxleas Meadow.
